Context Board

Context Board types: canvas, doc, sheet, slides and more

The kinds of Context Board: Canvas, Doc, Sheet, Slides, Plan, Files, Mind map, Calendar, Content calendar and Client pipeline, and what each does.

Last updated October 2026

Every board has your agent in the chat, and most hold widgets. Some also come with tools for one job, like writing, planning a day or tracking deals.

Make a new board

  1. Click the board’s name in the pill at the top, and choose New board. Or press G and pick the New board tile, or type New board in the command bar.
  2. Pick a kind: Canvas, Doc, Sheet, Slides, Plan, Files, Mind map, Calendar, Content calendar or Client pipeline.
  3. To bring in a spreadsheet or a deck, choose the Import row under the kinds and drop the file. An Excel or CSV file becomes a Sheet, and a PowerPoint file becomes Slides. From Google Sheets or Google Slides, use File, then Download, first.
  4. For a canvas, you can start from a template instead, under Or start a canvas from a template: Founder HQ, Launch week, Agents or Calm desk.

A board’s kind is set when you make it. Your agent can make one too. Ask for “a mind map about our launch”, “a sheet to track my invoices” or “a content calendar”.

On a Doc, Sheet, Slides or Files board, Full screen beside All boards, or F, fills the browser tab with the board. Back or Esc returns you.

Canvas

An infinite canvas you arrange freely. Scroll or drag empty space to move around, use Ctrl or ⌘ with the scroll wheel, or a pinch, to zoom, and press Shift 1 to fit the whole board in view. Double-click empty space to add a widget there, and press N for a sticky note.

Your agent adds, changes, arranges and removes widgets, and sends them data.

Doc

Pages for notes, plans and specs, with live widgets inside the writing.

  • Pages on the left holds the tree. New page adds one, and a page’s menu can Add a page inside, Rename, Move to, Download as Markdown or Delete.
  • On an empty line, type / for blocks: headings, lists, to-do lists, toggles, quotes, code, dividers, tables, a Widget, a Link to page or a Page inside. Type [[ to link to another page.
  • The formatting bar sets text and headings. Drag a block by its handle to move it.
  • A widget in a page takes S, M or L heights from its corner, and moves up or down.

Your agent reads and writes pages, in Markdown. It can add to the end, insert after a part, or replace one. Tasks and notes it adds go into a page.

Sheet

Tabs of cells for a budget, a lead list or a pricing model.

  • Type in a cell, then press Enter, Tab or the arrows, as in Google Sheets. Enter or F2 edits a cell and keeps what’s in it.
  • Type = to start a formula, like =SUM(B2:B9). The list under it says what each function does. The everyday Google Sheets functions work, from SUMIFS and XLOOKUP to FILTER and TEXTJOIN. A few Google-only ones, like QUERY, IMPORTRANGE and GOOGLEFINANCE, aren’t here.
  • The bar over the cells has Number format, bold, text and fill colors (with Color by rule), Borders, Align and merge, Freeze and Sort. Ctrl F (⌘ F on a Mac) finds, and Ctrl H (⌘ ⇧ H) replaces.
  • Right-click cells for a note or a chart, and under Data for a filter, checkboxes or a dropdown, a name for the range, or a table whose column formulas fill every row.
  • A web or mail address in a cell is a link. To link a cell’s own words, select it and press Ctrl K (⌘ K on a Mac).
  • Dates read the way your region writes them: day first in the UK, month first in the US. Number format changes how they show.
  • Tabs sit at the foot. Add a tab makes one, and a tab’s menu can Rename, Duplicate, Move left, Move right or Delete it.
  • Import a CSV or Excel file, on the left, brings in a file’s tabs with their formulas, number formats, bold and column widths. Download gives This tab as CSV or The whole sheet as Excel (.xlsx).

A tab holds up to 10,000 rows and 104 columns (A to CZ), and a sheet up to 40 tabs.

Your agent reads a tab as a table and writes cells, rows, formulas, formats and sorts, and it adds totals as formulas. Ask it to “set up a sheet to track my invoices”.

Slides

A deck you and your agent write and design, ready to present.

  • Slides run down the left. Click one to open it, and type straight onto the slide. Enter adds a new slide after it, and a drag moves slides.
  • The bar over the slide picks a layout, like Title, Two columns, Big number or Widget, and the slide’s background and the deck’s theme.
  • Design any slide freely: text boxes, shapes, lines and arrows, pictures and tables. Chart, diagram or widget adds a chart, a diagram like a timeline or a process, or a live widget.
  • A chart can take its numbers From a sheet: pick one of your Sheet boards and a range, and the chart changes when the sheet does.
  • Speaker notes sit under the slide.
  • Present (P) shows the deck full screen from the open slide. The arrows or Space move on, N shows your notes and Esc stops. Presenter view has your notes, the next slide and a timer.
  • The ⋯ menu has Start from a template, Paste a Markdown deck and Import a PowerPoint, and downloads the deck as PDF, PDF with notes, PowerPoint (.pptx) or Markdown.

A PowerPoint file comes in as it looked: its text boxes, shapes, pictures, tables, charts, backgrounds and speaker notes. Anything it couldn’t bring over, like video and sound, is listed by slide once it’s in.

Your agent reads the deck and writes it: a whole deck, new slides, layouts, charts and diagrams. Ask it to “draft a five-slide pitch for my product”. A shared link shows the deck one slide at a time, without your notes.

Plan

The plan for a big build, made with your agent before anything is built, then built by your coding agent.

  • A new plan opens on What are you planning? Fill in what you’re building, who it’s for, what done looks like, and anything it must or must not do. Or press Talk it through and say it out loud. The sound stays on your computer.
  • Send it to the board’s agent, which asks what it needs and then writes the plan. Or copy it for Claude Code or Codex to plan inside your project. Or write it yourself with Add a step, on the left.
  • The plan is an Overview and its steps. Each step’s page says what it does, how it works, its tasks as to-dos, and the files it touches.
  • Needs you, at the top, holds the questions only you can answer. Click an answer, or type your own, and the agent that asked gets it.
  • Hand off to your coding agent gives you the words to paste into Claude Code or Codex in your project. It builds the plan step by step and marks each step as it goes: being worked on, done with what proves it, or blocked when it needs you.
  • Previews, beside Hand off, gathers the mockups and screenshots your coding agent sends as it builds.
  • The thread beside the steps shows what your agent did and asked. Leave it a note there, and it reads it at its next update.

Your agent writes the steps, asks its questions on the plan, and keeps each step’s status and tasks current as it builds. Ask it to “break my build into steps”.

Files

Your project folders, read as notes. A Files board opens on the folders you chose on your computer (see Project folders), with nothing else to set up. It suits notes, docs and plans kept as Markdown, like an Obsidian vault or what your coding agent writes.

  • Files on the left holds your folders. A lock marks one you chose as read only. Search finds words inside your notes, and Tags lists every tag. Ctrl O (⌘ O on a Mac) opens a note by its name.
  • The note reads in the middle: headings, lists, tables, checklists, callouts, code, pictures and diagrams. [[Links]] open the note they point to, and back and forward step through where you’ve been.
  • The links pane on the right shows what links to this note, with the line each link sits in, notes that mention it, what it links to, its tags, and its neighbours drawn small.
  • Click into a note to change it. It saves to the file on your computer a second after you stop typing, and only what you typed changes. Your computer keeps the version before for thirty days. Notes in a read-only folder can’t be changed here.
  • New note, New folder, rename, drag to move, and delete are in the folders. Renaming a note asks before it updates the links to it in your other notes.

The board keeps no copy of your files. It reads each one from your computer when you open it, so your computer needs to be on, with the runner on it. A Files board is never shared by link.

Your agent in the board’s chat knows which note you have open, so “tidy this note” or “what links here?” works when the chat runs on your computer with Claude Code or Codex. It reads and changes the files there, and the note shows each change at once.

Mind map

Ideas branching out from a topic. Type the topic, then grow it.

KeyWhat it does
ArrowsAdd an idea that way
Shift and arrowsMove between ideas
TabAdd an idea inside the selected one
EnterAdd an idea beside it, or keep the one you’re typing
Space or double-clickEdit an idea
Alt and arrowsReorder
DeleteRemove
EscLeave an edit as it was, or come back from a focused idea

Right-click an idea, then click another, to draw a connector between them, even across branches. The rail has Fold, Focus on this idea and Outline, and More has See the whole map and Download as Markdown. Widgets float beside the map.

Your agent reads the map and grows it: it adds, renames, moves, folds, connects and removes ideas. Ask it to “grow the pricing branch”.

Calendar

Your meetings and tasks by day, week and month, on your own clock.

  • Press N and type it as you’d say it, like “Lunch with Sam Friday 1pm 1h”, and it lands on that day and time. With no time it’s all day.
  • Click a time in the week for an hour there, or drag across the hours for as long as it lasts. In the month, click a day for an all-day event.
  • Drag an event to move it, and its foot to change when it ends. Click one to open it and change its title, times, place, notes, color or how it repeats. Delete removes it, and Ctrl Z or ⌘ Z brings it back.
  • Month (M), Week (W) and Day (D) switch the view. T jumps to today, and the arrow keys move back and on.
  • The calendars column holds a small month and your calendars, each with a box to show or hide it. Under Layers, your content calendars’ posts and your pipelines’ follow-ups show on their days by themselves. Drag one to move it on its own board.
  • Google calendars are coming soon. Google is checking the calendar permission first.
  • On a phone, it lists the days ahead, today first. Tap an event to open it, or New event to add one.

Your agent reads the calendar and puts tasks on it, like “put invoice Acme on Friday at 2pm for 30 minutes”. Ask it to “plan my day” with the tasks you want done, and it puts each one in a free time. What it adds goes in the board’s own calendar, never a Google one.

A Calendar board holds your own plans, so it is not shared by link.

On another board: a calendar widget can show a Calendar board. Choose Show your events on the widget, then Show and the board’s name. It shows what that board shows, and clicking an event opens the board on that day.

Content calendar

Plan, draft and track posts for every channel.

  • Month (M), Week (W) and Status board (S) are three views. T jumps to today, and the arrow keys move a month or week.
  • New post (N) opens the post panel: when, channel, who it’s from, a link, threads and the copy. Add pictures attaches images, up to 1 MB each.
  • Ideas (I) holds posts with no date yet.
  • Right-click a post for its menu: Open, Duplicate, Back to the ideas and Delete. Or click a post and press Backspace or Delete. A deleted post goes to the trash, and Undo (Ctrl Z or ⌘ Z) brings it straight back.
  • The legend’s Posted, Scheduled, Draft and Ideas hide or show those posts.
  • Plan the week asks your agent to fill the week.
  • The month downloads as Markdown.

Nothing is published from the board. It’s where you plan and draft. Your agent reads, writes and removes posts. Ask it to “draft three posts for next week about the launch”.

Client pipeline

Deals moving from first hello to won.

  • Deals sit in stage columns, Lead, Talking, Proposal sent and Won to start. Drag a deal to move it. Stages changes them.
  • Board and List switch the view, and Find a client searches.
  • A deal holds its value, the next step and its date, an email, a phone number and a history. Ctrl Enter (⌘ Enter on a Mac) adds a history entry.
  • Follow-ups shows what’s due, with a count.
  • More imports and downloads deals as CSV.

Your agent reads deals, changes one and logs a note in one go, like “log my call with Priya, follow up Thursday”.

A client pipeline holds other people’s names and contact details, so it is never shared by link.

On every board

  • Widgets: press A for the gallery, or D for data and sources. Right-click any widget for its menu: settings, data and source, refresh, full screen, duplicate, copy, layer order and delete.
  • The command bar: Ctrl K or ⌘ K, or /, from the slim bar at the bottom. It also finds what’s inside your boards: pages, ideas, posts and deals, and the notes on a Files board you have open. On a Doc board it sits at the top of the page panel.
  • All boards: press G, or choose All boards in the board’s pill.
  • Board surface: on Doc, Calendar, Content calendar and Client pipeline boards, Look and themes has a Board surface slider, from solid to see-through, so your theme shows behind the board.

N adds a sticky note on a Canvas or a Mind map, and Shift 1 fits either in view. Each other kind has its own keys, above. Press ? for every shortcut.
